Homenetmen (HMEM) Glendale Ararat recently hosted a highly successful charity tennis tournament featuring world-renowned tennis champion Karen Khachanov on March 16 at UCLA’s Los Angeles Tennis Center.

The Armenian Educational Foundation (AEF) is proud to announce that it has received $15,000 from the proceeds, which will be directed towards providing scholarships to 12 displaced Artsakh students attending universities in Armenia for one academic year.

Karen Khachanov shared his heartfelt sentiments about the event, stating, “I’m incredibly honored to have been a part of the charity tennis tournament organized by Homenetmen Glendale Ararat, and I am deeply moved by the generosity and support shown by everyone involved. It brings me great joy to know that the $15,000 raised will go towards providing scholarships for displaced Artsakh students. Education is a powerful tool that can change lives, and I am proud to contribute to this meaningful cause alongside Andrey Rublev and the Armenian Educational Foundation. Thank you to all the participants and supporters who made this event possible.”

AEF’s Board President, Serop Beylerian, expressed his gratitude, saying, “We are deeply appreciative of the generosity demonstrated by Homenetmen Glendale Ararat and the support from Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev. This contribution will make a significant impact on the lives of these students, ensuring they have the opportunity to continue their education despite the challenges they have faced.”

Roobina B. Arshakian, Executive Board Chairwoman of Homenetmen Glendale Ararat, emphasized Homenetmen Glendale Ararat’s commitment to supporting the displaced families of Artsakh, stating, “After the forceful displacement of more than 100,000 Armenians from their homeland, we feel it is imperative that a large youth-based Armenian organization like Ararat stands on the side of justice and we do what we can to help the people of Artsakh through these challenging times.”

Since the displacement, more than 100 university and 50 IT certificate program scholarships have been awarded to displaced students who continued their education in Armenia, bringing the total number of scholarships provided to over 150. Additionally, AEF provided furniture and supplies to the Arevadasht and Verin Artashat schools to meet the needs of newly enrolled students from Artsakh. Over 1,000 children displaced from Artsakh received school supplies as part of the ongoing efforts to support their education.

The Armenian Educational Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to Glendale Ararat Homenetmen, Karen Khachanov, and Andrey Rublev for their unwavering support, energy, and enthusiasm in making this event a tremendous success. Their participation has not only raised crucial funds but also highlighted the importance of solidarity and support within the global community.

With over 1,300 scholarships granted last academic year, more than 200 schools have undergone renovation in Armenia, alongside various programs catering to diaspora students. The Armenian Educational Foundation (AEF), a non-profit organization established in 1950, is dedicated to providing educational opportunities to Armenian students in need. Through scholarships, grants, and various educational programs, AEF aims to empower the next generation of Armenian leaders and professionals by offering financial support to Armenian educational institutions and providing assistance to students of Armenian descent.
