Armenia’s Artur Aleksanyan (97 kg) has won the silver medal, becoming a four-time Olympic medalist, after losing in a hard-fought final to Iran’s Mohammad Hadi Saravi 4-1 in Men’s Greco-Roman wrestling at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The “White Bear”’s journey to the silver medal included victories over Cuba’s Gabriel Rosillo (5-3) in the semifinals, Uzbekistan’s Rustam Assakalov (9-5) in the quarterfinals, and South Korea’s Kim Seungjun (9-0) in the round of 16.
This victory adds to Aleksanyan’s impressive legacy. The 32-year-old now holds 12 career gold medals, 22 total career medals, and four Olympic medals, including one Olympic gold (2016 Rio). He is also a four-time World Champion (2014, 2015, 2017, 2022) and a seven-time European Champion (2012, 2013, 2014, 2018, 2020, 2023, 2024). Additionally, Aleksanyan holds an Olympic silver medal (2021, Tokyo) and an Olympic bronze medal (2012, London).
