The first TUMO Center in the United States will officially open in Los Angeles in late 2024, reports Zartonk Media.
Today marked the groundbreaking ceremony for the inaugural TUMO Center for Creative Technologies in the United States, known as TUMO Los Angeles, situated in North Hollywood at 4146 Lankershim Boulevard, near the iconic Universal Studios.
Notable attendees included Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, LA City Council President Paul Krekorian, former Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian, and TUMO Founders Sam and Sylva Simonian.
TUMO Los Angeles will provide free education and training to local teens for after-school and weekend programs completely free of charge in 8 different subjects, from music, filmmaking, and animation to programming, robotics, and game development.
“After years living in Armenia, building the international network of TUMO centers, I’m delighted to bring the same life-changing experience to teens in Los Angeles,” said Sawyer Hescock, CEO of TUMO Los Angeles, to Zartonk Media.
TUMO LA joins a global network of 13 centers in 9 countries, serving over 25,000 teens weekly and boasting over 60,000 alumni. This reflects the widespread demand for TUMO’s innovative and accessible education.

This first TUMO center in the United States was made possible through a $23.25 million grant from the State of California, secured by former Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian, and an additional $3 million Community Development Block Grand (CDBG) funds from the City of Los Angeles, secured by Los Angeles City Council President Paul Krekorian.
The TUMO Center for Creative Technologies is a free-of-charge educational program that puts teenagers in charge of their own learning. Founded by Sam and Sylva Simonian, along with Marie Lou and Pegor Papazian, TUMO’s mission is to create life-changing learning experiences on a large scale.
