NewsArmeniaThe ECHR Rejected An Interim Measure Against Azerbaijan Regarding Vagif Khachatryan Who Was Kidnapped By The Azerbaijani Forces

The European Court of Human Rights has rejected Armenia’s request to apply a new temporary interim measure against Azerbaijan regarding Vagif Khachatryan, the Office of the RA Representative on International Legal Affairs reports.

At the same time, the Court noted in its decision that the decision to apply an interim measure applied on September 29, 2020 and extended on November 3 of the same year, by virtue of which Azerbaijan undertakes to fulfill its convention obligations, remains in force.

The European Court also obliged to inform Azerbaijan about the general condition of Vagif Khachatryan and the ongoing criminal proceedings.

On July 29, Azerbaijanis abducted 68-year-old Vagif Khachatryan, who was going to Armenia as a medical patient, at an illegal checkpoint located in the Lachin corridor. Later it became known that the abducted person is in one of the hospitals of Baku. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan informed about his whereabouts. He was charged in the framework of the fictitious case related to the events that took place in the village of Meshali in Khojaly in 1991.
