Thanks to the generous support of John Akhoian and Family and Hoops 4 Hayastan (H4H), COAF has completed renovation of the Getashen Secondary School’s gymnasium and locker rooms. The school is located in the village of Getashen within the Armavir Province. Located one and a half hours outside of Yerevan, the school sits directly on the north western border of Armenia and Turkey.

The project included a full renovation of the entire facility. Contractors first started with demolition and dismantling of old and crumbled infrastructure. They then installed new walls, floors, windows and doors. They have also renovated the ceiling and roof of the structure. Aside from the aesthetic improvements, contractors have also installed internal power and lighting as well as an internal water supply, drainage and finally a heating system.
The new gym was opened to the friendly basketball game between the Getashen Youth Team and COAF’s basketball team. Equipped with new and improved amenities, the newly refurbished venue will ensure that the kids of Getashen can finally enjoy quality physical education.
