Armenia’s MOD Denies Information Spread By Azerbaijan That Armenian Forces Fired On Azeri Positions Near Gegharkunik.

The Armenian Defense Ministry denied information spread by Azerbaijan that units of the Armenian Armed Forces were firing on Azerbaijani positions near the border areas of Gegharkunik province.

The Armenian Defense Ministry denied the misinformation released by Azerbaijan, stating that its troops did not open fire on the Azerbaijani positions, adding that its own positions received fire from the Azerbaijani side, the Armenian MOD’s statement runs as follows,

“The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan is spreading yet another misinformation about the shelling of the Azerbaijani positions by the Armenian Armed Forces on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border section of Gegharkunik region for several hours. The Armenian Armed Forces did not open fire in the direction of the Azerbaijani positions. Moreover, at the time indicated in the message of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani side opened indiscriminate fire, to which the Armenian side did not respond.”

The Azerbaijani MOD’s statement which does not correspond to reality, runs as follows,

“On June 26, starting from 2:50 pm to about 3:00 am on June 27, units of the Armenian armed forces in the positions located near Yukhari Shorzha village of the Vardenis region using small arms periodically subjected to fire positions of the Azerbaijan Army in the direction of Zeylik and Imambinasi villages of Kalbajar region. There are no losses or wounded among the military personnel of the Azerbaijan Army. Currently, the situation in this direction is stable. Our units control the operational situation.”
