On June 6, 2021, at around 1:30 pm, Azerbaijani soldiers attempted to steal about 20 horses from an Armenian shepherd from the Verin Shorzha pasture of Vardenis community in the Gegharkunik province, informs Armen Tatoyan, Armenia’s Human Rights Defender.
In particular, the shepherds 20 horses approached the Azerbaijani positions that were illegally set up on the sovereign territory of Armenia while grazing.
The Azerbaijani troops took the opportunity and attempted to steal all of the horses from the pasture.
The servicemen of the Armenian Armed Forces immediately approached the scene of the incident and prevented the Azerbaijani soldiers from stealing the horses by opening fire.
His post runs as follows,
During the spring, summer and autumn months, civilians live here, grazing their small and large cattle in the pasture (these places are commonly called mountain pastures).
The fact-finding work of the Human Rights Defender continues to confirm that the Azerbaijani armed forces are committing blatant criminal acts against the border residents of the Republic of Armenia.
In fact, they deliberately open fire on the civilian population of the Republic of Armenia in order to deprive them of the right to life, other vital rights, to be engaged in animal husbandry, to earn a family income.
These criminal acts against the civilians of the Republic of Armenia in Gegharkunik started when they illegally invaded the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia on May 12, citing false maps.
These criminal acts of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces should be considered as a joint intention, taking into account that they commit the same acts against the pastors of the border villages of the RA Syunik region as well as the residents of other villages of the RA Gegharkunik region.
The continuous fact-finding work clearly shows that these actions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, which grossly violate the rights of the border residents of the Republic of Armenia, are connected with the policy of anti-Armenianism and hostility sponsored by the Azerbaijani authorities.
The protection of the rights of the population of the Republic of Armenia requires the existence of a security zone as a matter of urgency from the criminal acts of the Azerbaijani armed forces.
Today’s incident clearly shows who is really undermining the security of the people in the region and the prospects for restoring peace.
