In the 10th round of the FTX Crypto Cup (third round of the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour) online chess tournament, Levon Aronian competed with the world champion, Magnus Carlsen of Norway, reports News.am.

The Armenian grandmaster won in 51 steps and shares the 11th-12th places with the Russian Jan Nepomnyashchu with 4.5 points each.

In the previous rounds, Levon Aronian defeated Alexander Grischuk of Russia, Anish Giri of the Netherlands, Fabiano Caruana of the United States, Teimour Rajabov of Azerbaijan, Dean Liren of China, Daniel Dubov of Russia, Shakryashnar Mamedyun of Azerbaijan and Shakryashnar Mammadyan of Azerbaijan.

In the last 5 rounds of the preliminary round, Levon Aronian’s opponents will be Americans Wesley Son and Hikaru Nakamura, French Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Iranian Alireza Firouja and Argentine Alan Picot.

The chess players who took the first 8 places in the preliminary round will continue the fight in the quarterfinals.

The prize fund of the tournament is 320 thousand dollars. The winner will qualify for the final round of the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour scheduled for September.
