Maral Kalininan is an Armenian footwear designer who spent more than a year as the VP of Kanye West’s Yeezy footwear brand designing prototypes and spearheading her vision by integrating technologies like 3D printing, laser scanning, and 3D modeling into her design process.
According to her instagram she has helped design everything from the Calabasas Powerphase sneakers to the Yeezy 700 silhouette. After her designs garnered international acclaim she has now set out to create her own brand, Gaian Footwear. Gaian Footwear is a brand that is developing the very latest in footwear technology. The brands three newest limited edition models starting at $350 have the ability to harness the energy created with each step’s impact and store this energy in a battery pack on the back of the sneakers. Users can then use this small battery pack to charge their portable devices on the go.
