PM Pashinyan Dismisses Health Minister Arsen Torosyan From Post, Appoints Him As His New Chief Of Staff.

Today, President Armen Sarkissian signed a decree dismissing Health Minister Arsen Torosyan from his position.

Sarkissian also received a proposal from the Prime Minister to appoint Anahit Avanesyan to the post of the Health Minister to replace Torosyan, said Hasmik Petrosyan, Assistant to the President. Anahit Avanesyan has served as Deputy Minister of Health since May 2018, and as First deputy Minister since May 2020. The President is yet to sign relevant decrees.

Arsen Torosyan will be appointed Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister of Armenia.

Torosyan thanked all of the employees of the Ministry of Health in a  Facebook post and its subordinate institutions for their personal and professional dedication.

“Without you, it would not be possible to make the changes in the healthcare sector during the past three years, which will surely continue in full swing. Thanks to you, over the past year, the healthcare system has effectively fought the epidemic by providing quality, timely medical care to tens of thousands of our citizens, as well as promptly providing medical care to servicemen wounded during hostilities. Please continue to work with the same dedication and diligence,” the Torosyan said.

He wished good luck to the newly appointed Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan and expressed readiness to support her as much as he can.
