HomelandVice Speaker Alen Simonyan Says New Elections Are Necessary, Citizens Should Be Given Opportunity To Express Opinions.

Nikol Pashinyan’s team is not afraid of either new elections or their outcome. Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan stated this to journalists, reports Sputnik Armenia.

In his opinion, new elections are necessary: citizens should be given the opportunity to express their opinions. And the election campaign should be carried out when it is possible both physically and technically.

“If we win this election, it is good, but if we lose, then we will lose. If we elect others – whether Robert Kocharian or Vazgen Mankuyan, please. I respect everyone. But let it be the decision of the people themselves,” Simonyan said.

Fears related to the fact that Nikol Pashinyan and his supporters could rig the elections, Simonyan called groundless. So say those who at one time did just that, added Simonyan.

“Even if something like this happens, the people will be able to defend their right to decide their own destiny. They already know how to do it,” the vice speaker stressed.

Let us remind you that the opposition is in favor of the immediate resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Part of the opposition forces proposes to appoint an interim government headed by Vazgen Manukyan, and hold early elections a year later. Another part also supports early elections. But he does not support Vazgen Manukyan’s candidacy.
