Today, the President of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, began an official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to strengthen bilateral relations and discuss regional and international issues.

The short working visit of the President of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sargsyan to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has started.
The President of Armenia continues to meet with the leaders of different countries of the Arab world to reaffirm our friendship and readiness for cooperation with those countries, to expand and strengthen ties.
The official welcoming ceremony of the President of Armenia took place today in the Royal Reception Palace of Jordan. The military orchestra performed the national anthems of Armenia and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
After the welcoming ceremony, the President of Armenia Armen Sargsyan թ the King of Jordan, His Majesty Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, had a private conversation, which was followed by an extended meeting. The meeting was attended by Jordanian Prime Minister Bisher Khasavneh, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supplies Maha Ali and other officials.
Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein enjoys great prestige in the Islamic world, he is a representative of the Hashemite royal dynasty, from the 41st generation of the Prophet Muhammad, ascended the throne in 1999. on February 7. Abdullah II is the custodian of the Christian-Islamic shrines in Jerusalem.
Welcoming the visit of the President of Armenia, King Abdullah II of Jordan said that the two countries are united by strong friendship and historical ties. King Abdullah II warmly recalled his official visit to Armenia in February this year and thanked the President and people of Armenia.
It was noted that today Armenia faces many challenges և, as a good friend and relative, expect to work closely and provide support.
President Armen Sargsyan thanked for the warm hospitality, words of support and continued readiness to further develop relations between the two countries at all levels. He recalled the constructive discussions with the King of Jordan in Yerevan months ago and plans for the future. “There is mutual trust, we can work for the future, ” said the Armenian President. “In difficult moments, it becomes clear who your real friend and relative is .” Noting that there is hope for a way out of any difficult situation, the President expressed confidence that the planned programs will be implemented and deeper cooperation will be established.
Touching upon the opportunities for the development of bilateral relations in a warm and friendly atmosphere and the most effective use of the existing potential in various spheres, the President of Armenia and the King of Jordan expressed readiness to promote mutually beneficial cooperation. According to them, the two countries have a lot in common, they are the bearers of ancient civilizations, they build and value human resources. Jordan, like Armenia, has made human potential its main driver of development.
The interlocutors agreed that Armenia and Jordan can successfully cooperate, particularly in the fields of the latest technologies, education, science, healthcare, food security, tourism, and Jordan’s experience in working with IDPs can be instructive for Armenia.
The meeting focused on joint efforts in the fight against coronavirus, its health, socio-economic consequences, as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern, in particular, related to peace efforts in the Middle East.
President Sargsyan briefed the King of Jordan on the consequences of the Azerbaijani-Turkish military aggression against Artsakh and the situation in that context. The Jordanian side stated that it had used its connections and prestige in the international arena to promote peace efforts.
