A Russian Mi-24 transport helicopter was shot down on the territory of Armenia, a source in the Russian power structures told Sputnik Armenia.

“Presumably, a Russian helicopter was shot down from the direction of Nakhichevan. It fell on the territory of Armenia,” Sputnik Armenia is informed.

Today at 18:39, an alert was sounded that a Russian helicopter had crashed in a gorge located on the route from the village of Yeraskh to the village of Paruyr Sevak. An operational group of the regional rescue department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, three fire brigades from the fire department and rescue teams have left for the scene. – Ministry of Emergency Situations of RA.

Russian MoD says an Mi-24 helicopter accompanied a convoy of Russian troops in Armenia and came under fire from MANPADS from the ground between Yeraskh and Paruyr-Sevak, which is the border with the Nakhichevan autonomy of Azerbaijan. 2 crew members were killed. 1 injured.
