Two Azerbaijani soldiers were reportedly killed and five others wounded after Azerbaijan made two failed attempts to attack, capture and Armenian border position near the Armenian-Azerbaijani border near Tavush on Sunday.

“Today, at about 12:30 p.m., Armenian Forces repelled an attack by a group of soldiers of the Azerbaijan Forces near Tavush. The Azeri’s attempted to capture an Armenian border position, violating the state border of the Republic of Armenia, for reasons unknown, in a UAZ vehicle,” said Shushan Stepanyan, Spokesperson for the Defense Ministry of Armenia on her Facebook page.

“After the Armenian side fired warning shots, the Azerbaijani servicemen abandoned their UAZ-model vehicle behind and retreated to their positions,” Stepanyan added

“At 1:45pm, servicemen of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces made a second attempt to capture the Armenian border position(using artillery fire, but were again repelled and driven back by the Armenian side. The Armenian side reported no casualties,” she added.

The Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan informs that as a result of the incident on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border 2 Azerbaijani servicemen have died and 5 have been injured.
