Naira Zohrabyan, an Armenian politician and member of Gagik Tsarukyan’s Prosperous Armenia Party calls the Armenian Diaspora Homeless, per Hayq Media.
She claims that the Armenian Diaspora ran away from their homeland for a plate of “lap.” The term “lap” can be characterized as pig feed, in Armenian.
In a voice memo, she is heard saying, “I am living in my homeland, I haven’t run away. I refused to run away and I do not live like a homeless person in Italy or anywhere else. You ran away from your country for a plate of ‘lap.'”
There are more Armenians that live in the diaspora today, compared to the Armenian homeland. The emergence of the Armenian diaspora came in four main waves, the most recent and notable following the Armenian Genocide of 1915-23. The Armenian Genocide was a systematic attempt to annihilate the Armenian people from their homeland perpetrated by the Young Turks regime that ruled the Ottoman Empire in its final days.
