Today, the Republic of Armenia confirmed 82 new coronavirus cases and its 33rd death, on Friday, May 1, taking the total number of cases to 2,148, per Armenia’s Ministry of Health.

Out of the 2,148 total cases, 977 people recovered (48 Today) and 32 patients with underlying health conditions died. The remaining 1,136 are active cases, per Alina Nikoghosyan, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health. To date, 22,177 negative coronavirus tests have been conducted in Armenia, added Nikoghosyan.

The 33rd COVID-19 fatality was a 27-year-old woman who’d been hospitalized for about a month, being under the supervision of doctors. She was in a critical condition as she had congenital chronic health conditions. Unfortunately, the coronavirus disease dramatically worsened the young woman’s health and her life could not be saved, per Alina Nikoghosyan, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health.

Armenia has extended the state of emergency in the country by May 14 and restricted the movement of citizens.
