HomelandGlobal IssuesBreaking News: Azerbaijan Injures Armenian Soldier, Armenia Retaliates In Self-Defense.

On February 23, Azerbaijani armed forces opened cross-border gunfire on the military positions of the Armenian Armed Forces at the contact line near Koti village in Noyemberyan, leaving one Armenian soldier wounded with light injuries.. Following attack the Azerbaijani side began the spread disinformation and called the incident an Armenian “subversion attempt,” per Artsrun Hovhannisyan, Spokesperson for the Defense Ministry. The Armenian side stopped Azerbaijan’s shooting with retaliatory fire. Several Armenian soldiers have been wounded in Azerbaijan’s cross-border fire since the beginning of the year.

Azerbaijan confirmed the loss of one soldier identified as Ibrahim Alamshah Valiyev, as a result of Armenian gunfire, per News.Az. Azerbaijan also reported that Armenia used grenade launchers and other large-caliber arms when firing at the contact line near Koti village in Noyemberyan.

“The “subversion” announced by Azerbaijan is simply a good “fairytale” for the Azerbaijani public. This is total disinformation. The Armenian Armed Forces have simply responded to the Azerbaijani provocations, the result of which you can see for yourselves. Moreover, with this all the Armenian side is still displaying restraint,” Hovhannisyan said.
