Armenian actor Samvel Tadevosyan dressed in JHANGIRIAN by Armenian fashion designer Narek Jhangiryan to accept the Golden Globes Beacon Award in Tashkent, with the look supported by the Yerevan-based lifestyle platform Rien-à-Porter as part of its collaboration with Jhangiryan, reports Zartonk Media.
Tadevosyan walked the red carpet and took the stage at the inaugural Golden Globes Silk Road Tribute Gala on October 23 in a custom all-black suit by Jhangiryan, worn over a black shirt.
He is one of six artists honored at the gala, which the Golden Globes announced on October 14. The Beacon Award recognizes emerging performers from Central Asia and the Caucasus whose work represents a new generation of talent in film and television, and he shares it with Shugyla Yeshen of Kazakhstan.
Tadevosyan is best known for playing Tigran, a volunteer, in “Kyanq u Kriv,” released in English as both “Life and Fight” and “The Line,” the 2016 drama set during the Artsakh Liberation War that brought him the State Prize of the Republic of Armenia and the Anahit Award from the National Film Academy of Armenia.
The look was created by Narek Jhangiryan, an Armenian designer known for his contemporary approach to tailoring, whose brand JHANGIRIAN is part of Rien-à-Porter’s curated selection of Armenian designers. He designed Brunette’s stage outfit for Armenia at Eurovision 2023, built around a belt, with the upper part inspired by the Mother Armenia monument and a metallic detail over the heart drawn from a line in the song.
The platform celebrates Armenian heritage and contemporary design by working with a carefully selected group of local designers, showcasing them both on its online platform and at its flagship lifestyle space in Yerevan on Pushkin 35, guided by the belief that local is the new luxury.
It is the second time this year that Rien-à-Porter has placed an Armenian designer on a major international stage. In March, the platform curated the look Armenian-American filmmaker Madeline Sharafian wore to the Oscars, a dress by Varduhi Torozyan under her Jocund label, for the ceremony where Sharafian was nominated for directing Disney and Pixar’s “ELIO.”
With this appearance, Armenian cinema and fashion converged in Tashkent, bringing Armenian creativity to another of the world’s most visible stages.
