Azerbaijani Forces Open Fire On Syunik’s Khnatsakh Village, Damage Cultural Center

NewsArmeniaAzerbaijani Forces Open Fire On Syunik’s Khnatsakh Village, Damage Cultural Center

Azerbaijani forces opened fire late at night toward the Armenian village of Khnatsakh in Syunik Province, damaging the local Cultural Center, according to a statement from Armenia’s Ministry of Defense. No injuries were reported.

The incident occurred around 10:20 p.m. on April 13, the Ministry said. Photos released by the Ministry show multiple bullet holes on the walls of the Cultural Center building, underscoring the intensity of the attack.

“We urge the Azerbaijani side to conduct an investigation into the shelling of the Khnatsakh Cultural Center and to provide public explanations,” the Ministry stated.

Officials emphasized that this attack comes amid Armenia’s calls for the creation of a bilateral mechanism to investigate ceasefire violations — a proposal that remains unanswered by Azerbaijan.

The Armenian government has reiterated its proposal for a joint Armenia-Azerbaijan investigative mechanism aimed at preventing future violations along the border. The initiative was put forward by the Office of the Prime Minister, but no official response has been received from Baku so far.
