On March 12, Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler Vigen Nazaryan (87 kg) secured a decisive 7-0 victory against Azerbaijan’s Joju Samadov in the first round of the U23 European Wrestling Championship in Tirana, Albania, and advanced to the tournament’s quarterfinals, according to the Wrestling Federation of Armenia.

Nazaryan is set to face France’s Vladimeri Karchaidze in the quarterfinals.

Other Armenian wrestlers—Arayik Topalyan, Davit Zhotyan, and Martik Petrosyan—suffered defeats in their first matches.
