Armenia and France signed the 2025 Defense Cooperation Program following strategic defense consultations between the two countries at the Armenian Defense Ministry (MoD) in Yerevan on December 10. This comprehensive agreement, which sets a higher bar to elevate defense cooperation, encompasses dozens of measures across almost all aspects of the armed forces’ activities, reports Armenia’s MoD.

The consultations were conducted under the leadership of Levon Ayvazyan, Head of the Department of Defense Policy and International Cooperation, and Alexandre Escorcia, Head of the Service for Europe, North America, and Multilateral Affairs at the French Ministry of Defense.

During the session, both parties reviewed the results within their 2024 cooperation framework and set forth plans for the forthcoming year. They reaffirmed the strategic significance of their recent active collaboration and set a higher bar to elevate their partnership too.

Special importance was placed on cooperation in defense planning, military education, exercises, advisory assistance, and troop training.

The French delegation, led by Escorcia, was welcomed by Lieutenant General Edward Asryan, Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces. Discussions focused on the transformation priorities of the Armenian Armed Forces and the ongoing collaboration with France in this domain.

Lieutenant General Asryan expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation and expressed hope for its continued development. Additionally, the parties exchanged views on regional and international security issues.
