Acting PM Nikol Pashinyan chaired a special session of the Security Council to discuss the situation in the (Sev Lich) Black Lake area of the Syunik region and further steps.
In his speech, Nikol Pashinyan, in particular, noted, “Today’s sitting of the Security Council is dedicated to the events taking place in the vicinity of Sev Lich in the Syunik region and the surrounding area. This morning, the Azerbaijani armed forces crossed the state border of the Republic of Armenia in that area, deepened to 3.5 kilometers. In fact, they are trying to seize Sev Lich.
Of course, these actions are intolerable for the Republic of Armenia, because it is an encroachment on the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia. Of course, it is a separate subject of why such an action became possible, but it should be noted that this is a subversive transition.
It should also be noted that the RA Armed Forces have responded to the events since early morning, necessary tactical moves and other actions have been carried out. However, it should be noted that the actions of the Azerbaijani armed forces were not combined with the use of firearms or any other weapon.

The current situation is unacceptable, the Republic of Armenia can not simply accept the current situation, but given the scenario, our priority is to resolve this issue through negotiations and diplomacy.
I want us to make it clear that there is no way we can tolerate and come to terms with the situation; today we have to discuss the current situation and our future plans, possible scenarios, the existing internal interconnections between those scenarios.
I consider it necessary to emphasize that, as one could, unfortunately, the situation also becomes a cause of internal political speculations. I would like to urge you once again not to try to use the external security situation for internal political purposes, because this is a matter of national security, in this situation we need to focus on the problem and its solution.
Again, I want to state that the information about shootings, hostilities, wounded, victims has nothing to do with reality.
“But in any case, in this situation, we need to remain calm. On the other hand, we need to be consistent in terms of protecting our state and national interests. We also need to make decisions today about what to do and further tools.”
