“Ukraine, do not support the aggressor,” is the message exclaimed by the Armenian Revolutionary Federation’s (ARF-Dashnaktsutyun) youth during their protest in front of the Ukrainian Embassy in Yerevan.

“Ukraine, do not provoke, do not support the aggressor.” With this call, today the Armenian Youth Federation of the ARF-D held a protest action in front of the Ukrainian Embassy in Armenia per RadioVan.

The reason is the statement issued by Ukraine in connection with the tension provoked by Azerbaijan on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

It should be reminded that in a statement issued by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on July 13, it expressed concern over the tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, as a result of which, according to the ministry, “artillery shelling took place on July 12 in the direction of Tovuz.” The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry also stressed that it was in favor of a political settlement of the situation, “Based on respect for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.”

“Ukraine has issued a statement aggravating the situation in the region. Ukraine’s statement fills the mill of murderous Azerbaijan, it was a one-sided statement in favor of aggressor Azerbaijan,” said Gor Sargsyan, a member of the ARF-Dashnaktsutyun student union. He adds that Ukraine has driven a wedge in Armenian-Ukrainian relations. He continues saying that they had come to the embassy to share their borscht (Ukrainian soup). “We want to say, eat this borscht and be quiet.”

The protesters then “threw” borscht from the containers on the Ukrainian flag and the embassy building.

Ukraine is, after Turkey, one of the main military partners of Azerbaijan. Azeri officers are trained in Ukrainian military academies, and various technical assistance is supplied by Ukraine. Ukraine supports Azerbaijan’s position in the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict against to Armenia.
