NewsArmeniaArmenian Actor Samvel Tadevosyan to Receive the Golden Globes Beacon Award

Armenian actor Samvel Tadevosyan will receive the Golden Globes Beacon Award at the inaugural Golden Globes Silk Road Tribute Gala, a two-day event taking place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on October 23 and 24. The Golden Globes announced the honorees on October 14.

The Beacon Award recognizes emerging performers from Central Asia and the Caucasus whose work represents a new generation of talent in film and television. “We are honored to recognize this extraordinary group of artists,” Golden Globes President Helen Hoehne said, adding that their work reflects the region’s storytelling traditions.

Six artists are being honored across three categories. Gulchekhra Djamilova and Ali Khamraev of Uzbekistan receive the Meridian Award, and Tahmina Rafaella of Azerbaijan and Levan Koguashvili of Georgia receive the Trailblazer Award. Tadevosyan shares the Beacon Award with Shugyla Yeshen of Kazakhstan.

Vivid Strategies is producing and presenting the gala in partnership with the Golden Globes, and the event is separate from the annual competitive Golden Globe Awards for film and television. “We are proud to partner with the Golden Globes to bring this celebration to Tashkent,” said Giorgi Rtskhiladze, co-founder of Vivid Strategies.

Tadevosyan is best known for playing Tigran, a volunteer, in “Kyanq u Kriv,” released in English as both “Life and Fight” and “The Line,” a 2016 drama directed by Mher Mkrtchyan. The film is set between 1990 and 1992, during the Artsakh Liberation War, and follows four friends whose lives take different paths through the fighting.

The role brought him the State Prize of the Republic of Armenia, the Anahit Award from the National Film Academy of Armenia, and a special award at the Golden Apricot International Film Festival.

He returns to the screen after a creative break of several years in “88,” a 10-part drama and science fiction series that moves between Yerevan in 2026 and Armenia in 1988, in the weeks before the Spitak earthquake. Tadevosyan plays Adam, a journalist whose father, the physicist Hakob, disappeared in 1994, and who travels back to 1988 to find him. Filming began in October and the premiere is set for January 2027.

Born in Yerevan in 1993, Tadevosyan graduated from the theater faculty of the Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinematography and has performed at the Opera and Ballet National Theater and the Hovhannes Tumanyan Puppet Theater. He won the Artavazd award for best young actor for his solo performance in “Egoist.”

He also appeared in “Songs of Solomon,” Arman Nshanian’s 2019 film that Armenia submitted to the 93rd Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category, and in “Bravo, Virtuoso.”

In August, Tadevosyan appeared in Dior’s menswear campaign “A Study in Precision,” shot for the house’s Winter 2026-2027 tailoring collection, with portraits by Theo Wenner.
