Armenian weightlifter Grigor Ghazaryan became the 2025 European Junior Champion, winning gold in the Men’s 84 kg category at the European Junior Weightlifting Championships in Madrid, Spain.

He executed three outstanding snatch attempts—140?kg, 145?kg, and 148?kg—setting a new European junior record with his final lift. In the clean and jerk, he started with 180?kg, breaking the European junior clean and jerk record, then improved further with 185?kg and 190?kg, setting new records with each lift. His combined total of 338?kg (148 + 190?kg) earned him gold in every category and a commanding victory.

Earlier in the year, at the IWF Youth & Junior Championships in Lima, Peru (April 30 to May 5, 2025), Ghazaryan won the gold medal in the under-96?kg youth division. He posted a snatch of 145?kg, clean and jerk of 185?kg, and total of 330?kg, securing wins in both individual disciplines and in the overall standings.

With multiple European junior records and two major international gold titles in 2025, Grigor Ghazaryan has firmly positioned himself as one of Europe’s brightest young weightlifting talents and a leading figure for Armenia’s future in the sport.
