Henrikh Mkhitaryan Wins First Career Serie A Title With Inter

SportsSoccerHenrikh Mkhitaryan Wins First Career Serie A Title With Inter

Armenian football star Henrikh Mkhitaryan has etched his name into the history books by winning his first Serie A title with Inter Milan. The victory came after a fiercely contested Derby della Madonnina, where Inter triumphed over AC Milan to claim their landmark 20th Serie A championship, reports Zartonk Sports citing Football-Italia.

This triumph not only secures a second star for Inter’s jersey, a privilege marking every 10 Serie A titles and previously exclusive to Juventus, but also marks a pivotal moment in Mkhitaryan’s illustrious career.

In Italian football, a star is a prestigious emblem permanently affixed to the team’s jersey for every 10 Serie A titles won. Until now, only Juventus had the distinction of sporting more than one star. This season added a dynamic layer of competition as Inter and their San Siro neighbors, AC Milan, both started with 19 titles. However, Inter clinched the title first with a decisive head-to-head victory in tonight’s Derby della Madonnina.

This championship marks a significant milestone for Inter’s coach, Simone Inzaghi, as it is his first Serie A title. Inzaghi, known for his strategic prowess, has previously led his teams to win the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana at both Inter and Lazio. Under his leadership, the Nerazzurri dominated the league standings throughout the season, only briefly falling to second place following a 2-2 draw against Bologna in Week 8.

Although they fell short of breaking the all-time Serie A record of 102 points set by Antonio Conte’s Juventus, Inter’s season has been nothing short of spectacular, with 27 wins, five draws, and only one defeat. Their sole loss, a 2-1 setback at home against Sassuolo on September 27, did little to hinder their championship run.
