On Friday, November 1, Republican U.S. Presidential Candidate Donald Trump held a phone conversation with His Holiness Catholicos Aram I. The call, initiated by Trump, highlighted his support for Artsakh’s Armenians and his commitment to regional peace.

Trump expressed appreciation for Aram I’s leadership, acknowledging his recent tour of the United States, and reiterated his support for Artsakh’s Armenians and commitment to regional peace.

Trump praised the Armenian-American community as strong, smart and dynamic.

In response, Aram I thanked Trump for his public support for the Armenian people and stressed the vital importance of U.S. global leadership at this critical time.

He conveyed his strong expectation that a new U.S. Administration will deal seriously with the Artsakh issue ” particularly with respect to ensuring the right of return for Artsakh’s Armenians, international guarantees for security and status, and accountability for ethnic cleansing.

Additionally, His Holiness emphasized the importance of robust Armenian representation under a new Administration and the need for open dialogue with both the Eastern and Western Prelacies of the Armenian Apostolic Church of America and the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA).
