The former Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Luis Moreno Ocampo, has emphasized the critical need to unify the efforts of the global Armenian Diaspora to secure the release of Armenian prisoners of war (POWs) held in Baku.
Ocampo made the statement during a press conference in Yerevan today, in response to a question about the potential role of the Armenian Diaspora in these efforts.
He pointed to the success of the online campaign he launched months ago, aimed at freeing the Armenian prisoners.
“I have been involved in various processes related to genocides around the world, and this is the first time I have witnessed such global cooperation, which is a fantastic achievement. Armenians are creating an unprecedented experience of active collaboration,” Ocampo said, emphasizing the importance of these efforts in safeguarding Armenia.
He further called on all Armenians to contribute to the cause of freeing the hostages.
Ocampo noted that Armenians are not alone in this fight, as many universities and academic communities have also joined the initiative.
“The Armenian Diaspora can, at the very least, join this process,” he added.
