The Philadelphia 76ers have made a significant front office addition, hiring Memphis Grizzlies executive Ariana Andonian as Vice President of Player Personnel, reports ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Andonian, a rising star in NBA front offices, will reunite with Sixers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey, with whom she previously worked during her time as the Houston Rockets’ scouting coordinator.
Andonian began her NBA career with the Rockets in 2015, where she quickly climbed the ranks. Her scouting expertise was key in identifying future Sixer Matisse Thybulle during his college career. After joining the Grizzlies in 2020, she became their Director of Player Personnel, helping to shape their roster and earning recognition for her talent evaluation.
The Athletic named Andonian to its 2024 “40 under 40” list, citing her attention to detail and scouting acumen. She was also recognized in 2018 as the NBA’s only female scout, a trailblazing achievement in the league.
Andonian will share responsibilities with current Sixers VP of Player Personnel Prosper Karangwa, though they will focus on different areas within the team’s player development and scouting operations.
With high expectations for the 2024-25 season, the Sixers are counting on Andonian’s expertise to help them build a championship-caliber roster. Her scouting abilities and leadership will play a key role as the team seeks to compete in the highly competitive Eastern Conference.
