State Department Spokesman Matthew Miller: The United States Wants The Lachin Corridor To Be Reopened Immediately

NewsArtsakhState Department Spokesman Matthew Miller: The United States Wants The Lachin Corridor To Be Reopened Immediately

State Department spokesman Matthew Miller stated in a briefing that the US wants the Lachin Corridor to be reopened immediately. He added that this is necessary so that “it is possible to take measures under the conditions of a really difficult humanitarian situation”.

“We want the Lachin corridor to be reopened immediately. We have clearly said that. Secretary of State Blinken has had conversations with the leaders of both Armenia and Azerbaijan to make it clear that the US demands the Lachin Corridor to be opened due to the truly dire humanitarian situation in Artsakh,” he said.

Miller did not provide details of the regional visit of Luis Bono, the senior adviser on Caucasian negotiations of the US Department of State, who was already in Yerevan.

“He continues to deal with both the short-term priority of opening the Lachin Corridor and a list of long-term priorities. Our strategy is to pursue a peaceful settlement of the issue,” said Miller.
