‪Armenia Coronavirus Cases Increase By 34 To 770, Armenian Dies in Russia.

The Republic of Armenia has confirmed 34 new coronavirus cases, on Saturday, April 4, now standing at 770, per Armenia’s Ministry of Health.

Out of the 770 total cases, 43 people recovered and 7 patient with underlying health conditions died. The remaining 720 are active cases, per Alina Nikoghosyan, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health. To date, 3,477 negative coronavirus tests have been conducted in Armenia, added Nikoghosyan.

25 out of Armenia’s 770 confirmed coronavirus cases have pneumonia, three of these patients are connected to ventilators. One patient is in a critical condition, the condition of the remaining 24 is serious but stable condition,” Nikoghosyan said.

An Armenian citizen infected with the coronavirus has died in Russia, per Vardan Toghanyan, Armenia’s Ambassador to Russia via Sputnik Armenia. The ambassador added that 5 Armenian citizens in Russia have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, added Toghanyan. According to Sputnik Armenia, the deceased was Armenian citizen Vardan Ordyan, 58. “He is a citizen of the Republic of Armenia; an Armenian by nationality,” the ambassador said. “The family has been living in Russia for several years. This is the information we have at the moment.” In Russia, health officials reported a large one-day increase with 582 new cases, bringing the total number to 4,731 on Saturday, April 4. The country has also confirmed 43 deaths so far. As reported earlier, Russian-Armenian epidemiologist Arpik Asratyan died in a Moscow medical center on March 27. To date, Armenian Police issued 5,665 (477 Today) administrative offenses to citizens for violating the self-quarantine rules imposed to contain the coronavirus, per the Press Service for the Police. The Police of Armenia urge citizens to strictly limit exit from their homes and leave home only if it is extremely necessary. Drivers are urged to move only one passenger, in observance of the requirements set under the decision of the Commandant.

More than 500 coronavirus infected patients of Armenia receives no treatment since they do not even have temperature, said Pashinyan.

On Tuesday, March 31, PM Nikol Pashinyan extended the nationwide one-week lockdown to help curb the spread of the coronavirus for at another 10 days.
