Today, the Republic of Armenia confirmed 612 new coronavirus cases and 13 new deaths, on Friday, Jun 12, taking the total number of cases to 15,281, per Armenia’s Ministry of Health.-
Out of the 15,281 total cases, 5,639 people recovered (173 Today) and 258 patients with underlying health conditions died. The remaining 9,298 are active cases, per Alina Nikoghosyan, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health. To date, 77,686 negative coronavirus tests have been conducted in Armenia, added Nikoghosyan.
The 246th-258th fatalities were 61 (female), 85 (male), 73 (male), 74 (male), 55 (male), 69 (female), 83 (male), 59 (female), 71 (male), 84 (male), 76 (male), 59 (male) and 60 (female) years old. All had pre-existing chronic diseases. 4 cases of death were registered yesterday when the patients tested positive for COVID-19, but the cause of death was another disease. The total of such cases is 86.
The Armenian cabinet approved at its special meeting earlier today a proposal for extending epidemic-linked state of emergency for another 30 days. The measure will be in effect until 5:00pm on July 13.
First declared on March 16, 2020, the national emergency was twice consecutively prolonged in April and May. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced a plan for convening a special National Assembly session for discussing more details.
Today, Armenia ranked 19th in the world in the amount of new coronavirus cases, and 19th in the world in the amount of new deaths, per Worldometers.
Today, Armenia ranked 18th in world in the number of people infected with COVID-19 per one million inhabitants. There are 5,157 cases of this infection per one million residents in Armenia, and the absolute number of infected people. The death toll in Armenia, on the other hand, is 258, which is 33rd in the world per one million inhabitants.
